STAGE 2 NEWS

It continues to be a hive of activity in the Stage Two classrooms this term.  All of the students have settled into the Stage Two routines and expectations.

Visual Art

The students have been experimenting with the Elements of Art - line, shape, colour and texture. Incorporating the use of simple overlapping line patterns with a colourful water-colour background the students created some stunning works of art.

NAPLAN

Mrs Polson and Mrs Dunham have been so impressed by how well the Year 3 students have conducted themselves during their NAPLAN testing over the past week.  Well done Year 3!!

Year 4 Art displays

The main character (Tilly) in our focus text ‘The Thing About Oliver’ is moving to Townsville and she is excited about exploring the Great Barrier Reef.  Whilst Year 3 have been completing NAPLAN testing, Year 4 have been researching and drawing creatures that are found in the shallow and deeper areas of the Great Barrier Reef.  The children have also been writing similes to describe their creatures as well as creating seaweed, rocks and coral to enhance our scenes.  These will create two displays in our Stage 2 space.  The children have worked incredibly hard to create realistic pictures of their creatures which will brighten up our rooms.  Keep up the great work Year 4!

Sport/PE

The Bilbies and the Wombats continue to work on all the skills and techniques that are involved in the sports of Netball and Touch Football. All of the students look forward to playing the game of Netball or Touch Football each Friday for sport. Once a week we also squeeze in training for our school Cross Country which will be held early Term 2.

Homework

Multiplication facts (times tables) will continue to be a strong focus in Stage 2 throughout the year so we have set a task of creating a multiplication fact game. Ideas and further information about the homework task has been sent home this week. The children need to bring these games in by Week 11 to play with their classmates. Thank you.

PAX and Zones of Regulation

All the students continue to participate in our lessons which empower the students with strategies and ideas of how we can recognise and regulate our emotions. Last week the students may have brought home chatter boxes which was a fun and engaging way for the students to identify the different emotions and our feelings associated with them.

Have a wonderful week.

Mrs Townsend and Mrs Dunham
