Principal's Report

Dear families,

PUBLIC HOLIDAY

Monday is a public holiday, and there will be no school for students. Classes will resume as usual on Tuesday.

FOUNDATION STUDENTS’ ATTENDANCE

Starting next week, Foundation students will begin attending school on Wednesdays.

HARMONY DAY

Harmony Day invites students to support a fundraiser for the Royal Children's Hospital. Children are encouraged to wear something such as an orange tshirt, shorts, socks, hair tie etc on Friday March 21st. Students are to wear full school uniform for items not orange. A BBQ will run this day and items are available for purchase on Qkr!

CROSS COUNTRY

Our Cross Country event will be held on Tuesday 25th March from 9:15am. It will be held on the Community Oval this year. Parents and siblings are welcome to come along and support.

NAPLAN

NAPLAN commences next week. NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) is an annual assessment for students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 that measures essential literacy and numeracy skills. It helps parents, teachers, and schools track student progress against national standards and identify areas for improvement. The tests are conducted online, except for the Year 3 writing assessment, and use adaptive technology to provide more precise results. All students are encouraged to participate, with adjustments available for those with disabilities. While no special preparation is required, teachers will ensure students are familiar with the test format. Results are reported across four proficiency levels—Exceeding, Strong, Developing, and Needs Additional Support—and are used by parents, educators, and policymakers to improve learning outcomes. For more information, visit nap.edu.au or contact the school.

PROFESSIONAL LEARNING

On Saturday, 15th March, staff will once again complete their practical First Aid Training with Rich River First Aid. This training provides valuable updates on the latest first aid techniques and best practices, ensuring staff are equipped to respond confidently and effectively in emergencies. Regular training helps reinforce essential skills like CPR, wound care, and managing medical incidents, improving the safety and well-being of everyone in our school.

EASTER RAFFLE

P&F are hosting an exciting Easter raffle as their final fundraiser for Term 1. We’d love your support—donations can be dropped off at the front office. Tickets will be available for purchase through Qkr!, so don't miss your chance to be in the draw. More information to come.

Have an enjoyable long weekend.

Regards Heather
