Continuing with the recent focus on accreditation, the Technology Department has been actively coordinating the CPC10120 Certificate I in Construction and CPC20220 Certificate I in Construction Pathways. Last week, Bluedog Training delivered the mandatory safety course to a record-breaking 30 participants.
This qualification is essential for all tradespeople entering or working on construction sites. The full-day White Card Course, held at Marist and conducted by Bluedog Training, was met with great enthusiasm. The students displayed exceptional conduct and interest throughout the day. Special thanks to Mr Garrick Dillon, our Bluedog Training Liaison trainer, for his invaluable delivery and support on the day.
In addition to the White Card course, we held a special presentation of this year's TradeMutt work shirts for our Construction Immersion students. These dedicated students, who spend twice the amount of time in their construction studies, received these work shirts for multiple purposes: sun safety, as work attire for their fortnightly construction immersion days, and to be recognised as the distinct Construction Immersion group. Most importantly, these shirts support Men's Mental Health.
This tradition, introduced to Marist College by Mr. Ben Cribb and supported by the College Leadership Team, began last year. Each year, a new design is selected, and each Construction Immersion student is presented with these shirts. The VET teachers also wear the same patterned shirt on "Funky Shirt Friday" to support the initiative.
A "TradeMutt shirt" in Australia is a workwear shirt designed to spark conversations about mental health, particularly among blue-collar workers. Featuring bold, eye-catching designs, these shirts act as icebreakers to encourage open discussions about wellbeing. The brand's mission is to raise awareness among Australian tradespeople by making mental health issues more visible.
