Principal Address

Dear Parents,
It was fantastic to see all of our students, back and enjoying school this week.
We are looking forward to a busy and exciting term ahead, with a wide range of opportunities across all areas of school. We are excited to see our students continue to learn, grow and thrive across all areas of school life.
School Musical Next Week
Our school community are really looking forward to our Musical next week. As we approach next week’s musical performances on Thursday and Friday. I know in my household, the continued rendition of “What came first the chicken or the egg?” has been on repeat from my daughter.
Over 3 months now, our cast of around 30 students have committed themselves to rehearsals, learning lines, supporting one another and stepping outside their comfort zones. What we will see on stage is the result of perseverance, teamwork and a willingness to have a go. These are qualities I value deeply. Our other students who are not in the main cast, have memorised a dance, learnt lyrics, practised the music and committed to working as a group. These are valuable skills that go past the the simple nature of getting up on the stage.
As a community, it is important that we approach these evenings with the right mindset. Although our musicals are always incredible, I am not expecting perfection, nor am I expecting every child to be perfect up on stage.
These are children who are learning, growing and taking risks. What matters most is the courage it takes to stand up, participate and contribute to something bigger than themselves. For some students, there may be varying levels of enthusiasm and the ability to still contribute is a worthwhile endeavour.
A few important points to remember that were previously sent out via email on Tuesday:
All students involved are required to attend both performance nights. Each role, no matter how large or small, contributes to the success of the production.
Buses will not be running in the afternoons on Thursday and Friday.
OOSH will close 5pm on Thursday and Friday. If you would like OOSH to take your children directly to the musical (i.e. drop them off at their allocated drop off zone) you must write to Extend saying you give permission for your children to be dropped off to the musical by the HopePoint Extend educators. The email address is: hopepointchristian@extend.com.au
Call times are 5.00pm (main cast) and 5.15pm (for all other students).
On Thursday afternoon, students will go home with their tights/pants and shirt to change into. They should arrive Thursday and Friday night already wearing this. K-2 students are to wear black school shoes with black socks. 3-6 students are to wear clearly labelled slip-on shoes (i.e., crocs/thongs). If your child is wearing a white shirt, they are strongly encouraged to also wear a white singlet underneath. For older girls, a white crop top may be worn if needed.
- Students should bring a water bottle and a non-messy snack with them for both nights. (Please avoid using lunch bags to conserve space). Please give the students something substantial to eat before their call time. Once in costume, they will not be allowed to eat anything substantial.
Mrs Davila has also given some thoughts below about our musical which are well worth a read.
Student Prayer Group
I'm excited that our Christian Service Captains, Oriana and Hudson, will be leading a weekly student prayer gathering. This will take place each Friday in the Performing Arts space. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to come together, pray for one another, and support our school community. All students are welcome, and those who would like prayer are warmly encouraged to attend.
Chapel Update
Please note that there will be no Chapel next week due to the musical performances.
ANZAC Day
Today we held our ANZAC Day service. Thank you to our school leaders for leading with such respect and maturity, and to our special guest, Mr Roser, for joining us. All of our students showed so much respect and courtesy for the service today.
ANZAC Day is an important opportunity for us to pause, reflect and honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served. It is vital that we continue to acknowledge and remember these moments together as a community.
A reminder that there is NO school on Monday due to the long weekend.
My door is always open.
Mr Joe Britton
(Principal)
Mrs Jade Davila (Deputy Principal)
It has been a wonderful start to the term, and I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing students return with such positive energy and focus in their learning.
At the end of last year, we began our musical journey, which always brings a sense of excitement and anticipation for both students and staff. I truly love musical years and all that comes with them. There is something so special about watching students flourish in their God given talents, stepping outside their comfort zones to try something new or to pursue and grow a passion they already have. I feel very blessed to be serving as Assistant Director for this year’s musical and to be working alongside Mrs Britton and our incredible cast.
From the very beginning, our students have shown such hard work, enthusiasm, and a genuine commitment to giving their best in every rehearsal, song, and scene. Each year, I find myself so impressed by the dedication our students bring, showing up with determination, courage, and heart. We have spoken often with the cast about the purpose behind the musical, that it is all for the glory and honour of God, and it has been so encouraging to see how wholeheartedly they have embraced this.
As we enter the final week of preparations and rehearsals, I have been reflecting on the process of practice. It teaches patience, persistence, and the understanding that growth comes through consistent effort over time. In these moments, students are not only learning lines, music, or choreography, they are learning to take risks, to refine their skills, and to keep going even when things feel challenging. These are lessons that extend far beyond the stage.
And in all of this, it is a beautiful reminder that we are not doing this on our own. God is with us in the practicing, in the rehearsing, and in the refining. He is present in the moments that feel smooth and in the ones that feel stretching. Just as we encourage our students to keep going, to grow, and to trust the process, we can also trust that God is working in and through it all, shaping hearts, building perseverance, and drawing us closer to Him.
We are so excited to welcome you to come and see the incredible work our students have put in. This is not just our main cast and actors, but every class has contributed through their singing, dancing, and dedication to rehearsals. It is going to be such a special two nights, and we truly believe you will be blessed as you watch our students shine on stage, using their gifts to glorify God.
