Clare's message........

Good afternoon Families,
Welcome to Term Two- a term of change for the seasons and for our learners. Liturgically, we have changed from the season of Lent to the Sacred Paschal Triduum and now in the Easter season. Pope Leo in his Easter Sunday address encouraged people of all nations and faith to, '...let us allow ourselves to be amazed by Christ! Let us allow our hearts to be transformed by his immense love for us! Let those who have weapons lay them down! Let those who have the power to unleash wars choose peace! Not a peace imposed by force, but through dialogue! Not with the desire to dominate others, but to encounter them!' What a wonderful message to aspire to.
The term has brought change to our new community with Claudia Hutanu finishing in Prep this week. She decided to take on a full-time position at another school. We wish her every success for the future. We have been very fortunate to employ and welcome Zoe Dwyer to teach alongside Brooke Madden in Prep. We welcomed Zoe yesterday at our Twilight Sports- a real baptism of fire on her very first day. We are looking forward to getting to know Zoe and already sense she has many gifts and talents.
One of our major school-community events each year is the annual Twilight Sports. Our new PE teacher, Michelle Boyce, did an incredible job bringing together all the elements that make up an athletics carnival. Whilst those before her paved the way, Michelle brought great energy, enthusiasm and passion to ensure this was the best one yet. It was wonderful to have so many families join us for the afternoon. My thanks to the numerous parents/families who volunteered. You know who you are and apologies if l missed your name: Adams, Barrett, Campiciano, Capewell, Coe, Connane, Cruickshank, Fakhry, Fusca, Gagliardi, Gomes, Harkin, Healey, Hooi, Kerry, Lander, Loke, Mann, Pisciotta, Pourgoutzidis, Soro, Spaulding, Thong, Tierney, Vithiyanandan, and Xue families- thank you. Our children should be well proud of the grit and determination they put in, The dances at the end were incredible led by amazing Year 6 house leaders. Congratulations to Lucas and Desi (Staunton), Max, Hannah, Oscar and Jacob (D'Prazer) and to the winning house team Egan led by Maddie, Ivy, Mason and Jonathan.
Make sure you check out all the photos later in this edition.
Yesterday, our Year 6 students attended an ANZAC Children's Service organised by the Box Hill RSL at the Box Hill Gardens. This is a beautiful, moving and thought provoking experience for our children and we love the opportunity to attend and engage with our local community. Our two School Captains, Georgia and Tommy laid a wreath at the epitaph. See the photos attached
This afternoon, a beautiful ANZAC Day liturgy was led by several Year 6 student leaders. Lest we forget...
This Monday, we have a Pupil Free Day-Staff Professional Learning with an RE focus.
Dr. Lynn Moresi, who will facilitate the morning session, designs and leads professional development workshops that deepen reflective practice and explore the complexities of human experience. For our staff, this will be through the lens of how we can meaningfully unpack scripture for children so they can contextualise it within their own lives.
I give thanks to our Creator God for the magnificent Autumn weather we are having. Hoping you enjoy it, with your family and friends this weekend. Go Hawks!
Clare Ryan
