Safe on Social – Kirra Pendergast
The annual Rush House charity education event, Day for Daniel, will be held next Friday 18 October. As always, and very timely, the emphasis on the day is based around safety, including a focus on cyber safety.
As part of the day, we have organised a parent cyber safety webinar with Kirra Pendergast, cyber safety expert from Safe on Social which will take place on Thursday 19 October from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. More information to come.
Thank you to Scott Minogue – Head of Rush House for organising this presentation.
Year 10 students will be receiving their second dosage of the Meningococcal B vaccine next Thursday. The first dose was administered back in May. An email will be sent to Year 10 students early next week with the timings.
Please note these vaccinations will only be administered to students whose parents have provided us with consent previously. If your situation has changed and your son has received his second vaccination privately, please contact Student Admin (email: studentadmin@marash.qld.edu.au).
Students are not to be in possession or of use their mobile phone between 8:35 am and 3.10 pm. Primary students must keep their phones in their lockers from the time they arrive at school and are not permitted to use them before school. If found in possession of a phone during these hours, the phone will be confiscated and taken to Student Administration. If this occurs twice during the school semester, then a one day internal suspension will result.
Should you need to get an urgent message to your son during the day, please contact Student Administration (Years 7-12) or Primary Reception.
If your son is leaving school early for any reason, we request that you notify the College in writing using the Absences tile on Parent Orbit.
Students are not to use their mobile phones to call home requesting permission to leave early for any reason. There are several issues with this scenario including using mobile devices during the school day (students know it should be in their locker), lack of communication with the pastoral leader and duty of care responsibilities.
If students are not feeling well during the day, they are to go to the Health Centre where a decision will be made if a student is too sick to continue with school. If students are going home after being assessed, the Health Centre will contact home to arrange pick up.
Parent Orbit is designed to make your interaction with the College more efficient and convenient. Whether you need to update information, receive notifications, or manage school-related tasks, the app puts everything you need right at your fingertips.
