Visual Art News
We’ve bounced into term four in Visual Art with lots of projects and plans ready to zoom!
Grades Three and Four are painting pavers with the letters in the word “Wominjeka”, which is the Dja Dja Wurrung and Wurundjeri word for “Welcome”. We will place these in Middle Gully Reserve as an acknowledgement of the Traditional Owners of the land on which we play and learn. They will also be exploring textiles and making tote bags; learning different stitches to embellish their creations. Cross stitch will make an appearance as well.
Grades Five and Six students will be focused on planning and painting a beautiful mural on the side of the school, under the library windows.
Students from grades Three to Six will learn about the work of the talented and elusive artist, Banksy and contemplate the power of art to make a statement.
Grades Foundation, One and Two students are going to be exploring textiles also and will create wall hangings. They will also learn about the unique style of artist Rebecca Cool and use her style to inspire their own pieces.
And now, the begging part of our newsletter article!
The following is a list of items we would love to receive ongoing this term:
- Clean and empty tin cans (400g size)
- Clean and empty tin cans (large 800g size)
- Clean, empty large containers such as ice cream containers or larger. THE TUBS PICTURED WOULD BE PERFECT!
We don’t need any small containers at the moment, so won’t want teeny things like yoghurt tubs.
Thank you.
