Footy Day Leaders: Year 6 Term 3 Leadership Initiative

Footy Day Leaders

This term, there was huge excitement for the Footy Day initiative. Our students love playing Footy in Grade 6, so they were very eager to participate in this initiative. With such a huge interest in this initiative, the Footy Day Leaders were divided into four groups to ensure that the running of Footy Day was a huge success! 

Assembly Leaders

Hello! We are the Term 3 Footy Day Assembly Leaders, and our names are; Rafi, Oscar L, Luke, Harrison, Connor, Sid and Andreas. In class, we worked on the slideshow for the assembly. We discovered a video featuring the anthems of all the teams, and we created a slide dedicated to each team. We had an amazing time putting together our assembly for the footy day. It was a blast seeing you all celebrate your footy teams and watching the teams with small fan bases, grow over the years and enjoy the day.

Outdoor Activity Leaders

Our team included: Oscar G, Leo, Lachie, and Ned and we were chosen as the Outdoor Activity Leaders. It was our responsibility to prepare activities that focused on teaching the skills of footy to all students. Some of the activities that we prepared were the longest kick, footy volleyball, and free play with the footy. We also helped Sam Gilbert from St. Kilda Footy Club hold a skills clinic with the Preps. 

Guest Speaker Leaders

Our group was in charge of sending out emails to all of the Victorian AFL and AFLW clubs, to try and have an awesome AFL or AFLW player, to come and talk to us. Sadly, all of the teams were busy with either finals, or preparing for next year's season. On the day, we also helped Sam Gilbert with the Prep Footy Clinic. 

Indoor Activity Leaders

All students came to school in their favourite footy team's colours and participated in so many fun footy activities such as footy Kahoots, Footy volleyball and singing all of the AFL and AFLW footy anthems. We were sure to include lots of entertaining and fun tasks in our session that were suitable for everyone. Maggie and Neave were partners leading the Year 1s, Year 3s, Year 5s and Year 6s in their slideshow. For the Preps, Year 2 and Year 4s Will S, Brendan and Will W made a slideshow that had you guessing the AFL player, a word search, colour your own AFL jersey and guessing the AFL team. Overall the day was a hit and encouraged everyone to join in the footy fun!!
