Year 3 Zoo Snooze

On Tuesday the 3rd and Wednesday the 4th of September, the students in 3D and 3M, respectively, embarked on their first ever school camp to the Melbourne Zoo. The excitement was high, the sleep was limited, and everyone had the time of their lives!

Please see below for some of the children's reflections from the overnight adventure. A special shout out to Jack S for his magnificent Zoo Snooze Rap, a star in the making!

At night our class heard a roar from the distance it was coming from the lions, but they were not there when we checked there last! When we got to the lion enclosure, the lions were there and one of them came to the window. I felt like I could reach out and touch it. It was so exciting! When we went back to the tents we had a 20 minute chat with our friends. The Zoo snooze was the best!

There once was a clever class of Grade 3;

Who went to the zoo merrily.

They had lots of fun,

even when the sun sadly fell.

Popcorn they could smell;

But it was really the Binturong's pee!

Ines Leal- 3M

First, we hopped on the bus and travelled to the Melbourne Zoo. It took 40 minutes to get there. We were all so excited. When we arrived we found out our tent groups. My group was Chloe, Gabby and me.

We walked a while until we got to our campsite. We were camping in the old elephant enclosure! Then we huddled into groups of five and four, I was in a group of five. They asked us questions that I was really good at.

After that we got to see our tents and set up. Our tents were named after different elephants from the zoo. At night we got to go on a night walk. We saw Giraffes, Dingoes, Lions, Kangaroos, Koalas and snakes. One of the most special parts was that we were allowed to go for a ride on the carousel. It was really cool!!!

Finally, the night was over and we went to a tent, where we had a choice of having milk or water then we went back to our tents. We were all very tired and went to bed

Quickly, but not my tent…

The Zoo Snooze was so much fun!
