Today we were working on okonomiyaki which is Japanese for “everything fried” and is kind of like a big savoury pancake and Asian style broccolini. First to make the okonomiyaki we had to wash everything, then we started chopping everything into small slices.

“I liked cutting because I can focus on it for a while” - Phoenix.

“I find it satisfying to chop the vegetables” - Mina.

While this was happening, the other group was making the Asian broccolini, so first they had to sort through all of the broccolini, then they chopped the head of the broccolini off, after that they crushed ginger and cut it up.

“I like cooking because we get to make our own food” - Romy.

Three people from the broccolini group started making a bulldog sauce to go with the okonomiyaki. When they were making the bull dog sauce, they had to substitute the oyster sauce for a vegetarian stir-fry sauce and create their own Worcestershire Sauce. We started frying the okonomiyaki and it all went well, so soon we had delicious fried Japanese pancakes.

The other group had finished the bulldog sauce, so they were cleaning up. We set up the table so we were ready for the food!
