Principals' Message

Dear Parents,

As the term draws to a close we are able to reflect on so many wonderful aspects of our COHR Community, as well as look forward with anticipation to the joys of Term 4.

This week our Year 5/6s have been away on camp at CYC Adanac, Yarra Junction. I had the pleasure of accompanying them, enjoying the rain of Monday and the sunshine of Tuesday & Wednesday. The students were simply amazing, rising to the challenges of not only the activities of hut building, flying fox, camp cooking, canoeing and archery, but also to the challenge of being away from home, away from technology and living each day surrounded by friends! A special thank you to the staff who gave of their time to accompany our children - Lorraine, Carolyn, Nicole and our amazing camp leaders and organisers Ilona and Karen. They too step away from family and we are very grateful for their time, efforts and care of our children.

Today we packed up our spectacular 2024 COHR Art Show. Opening Night was a wonderful COHR Community event,  where our students were so proud to show off their talents and creatvity. Their smiles said it all! Thank you to the families who bought a ticket to Opening Night, this helps to offset some of the extra costs that an event like this incurrs.

A special thanks must go to Ms Sarah Counihan our Visual Art teacher this year. The planning and organisation for the Art Show began way back in Term 4 last year. Through her organisation and planning she was able to showcase, for us all to enjoy, an amazing array of art pieces, with contributions from all our COHR students. We are indebited to her many hours of dedication to make it such a wonderful success. Well done Sarah!

At the end of the Newsletter there is our calendar page, including most of the key events of Term 4. Please note there are two School Closure Days - the Monday before Melbourne Cup - Monday 4th November, and Monday 2nd December when staff will spend the day putting into place plans for 2025.

One of the biggest events of Term 4 will be the Fete on Friday 15th November. One thing anyone on Facebook can do to support the Fete is to like and share the COHR Fete page

Please note this is separate from the school Facebook and Insta pages, but feel free to like and share those too!

Over the past two weeks it has been a pleasure to be meeting our Preps for 2025 and their parents, at our Prep Interviews. This is a wonderful part of my job, welcoming new families into the COHR Community as they begin to take this most special step in life, beginning school. Please if you know anyone still looking for a 2025 school, at any grade level, encourage them to make contact with Rachel or Sandra in the office, come for a tour and see  all that COHR has to offer.

Some happy news to share. Mrs Tanya Ticca returned back to COHR this term taking Intervention and Extension groups and has recently announced that she and Anthony are now expecting their second child. Congratulations from us all.

Brian has been away from COHR this week at an education conference in New Zealand.

On behalf of us both I wish you a restful and peaceful holiday. May the Spring sunshine shine (and may my Sydney Swans shine too!)

May the sunlight and the rain be reminders that You are at work renewing the earth.

As a God of renewal,

You are ever at work in our lives, too.

Open our eyes and lives to the needed changes in our lives this Spring.

Awaken us to new life and perspective,

for we pray in Jesus’ name.

Amen

Regards,

Brian Martin (Lead Principal) &

Jo Cowan (Deputy Principal)
