What's Happening In Primary

Welcome to Term 4!

We hope each family had a wonderful holiday break and is ready for the exciting term ahead. As a Primary Team, we are thrilled to journey through the final term of the year with you.

This term will be filled with community gatherings and enriching learning experiences. Next week, our Year 6 students will head off on a four-day excursion to Canberra. Please keep our Year 6 students, parent volunteers and DCS staff in your prayers as they embark on this trip.

As always, we are looking forward to partnering with each student and family throughout the term. Let this message from the Prep foyer be a blessing to you this term:

Kidpreneur

During the last week of Term 3, our Year 5/6 students wrapped up their business and economics unit by hosting a Kidpreneur Market. The students formed small business teams to sell items and experiences, raising funds for their class’s chosen charity. The market was a great success, with wonderful support from the entire DCS community. A big thank you to our young entrepreneurs, teachers, support staff and families for making this event possible!

Throughout the day, students raised an incredible $4100 for their various charities!

School Uniform Change Over

With the commencement of Term 4, it is time for the change-over to summer uniform for our primary students.  This also includes our ‘Yes Hat, Yes Play’ policy requiring all primary students to wear either our school legionnaire or wide-brimmed hat whilst outside.

Due to our varied weather here in Tasmania, students have the option of wearing either the winter or summer uniform for the first two weeks of Term 4.  All students will be required to be in full summer uniform by Monday 28th October.

We have noticed that as the year has progressed, many incorrect uniform items are starting to 'creep' in. We understand that items are starting to wear out, or are lost, but ask that particular attention is given to making sure that the correct items are being purchased and being worn. 

Please make sure that school shoes are ALL black (no white soles or logos on shoes), socks are plain (no brands on them) and shorts and trackpants are the school required colour and style.

Uniform sales are available throughout the term and we also have a large range of donated uniforms available free of charge.

To look at donated uniforms, or to donate uniforms that are no longer required, please come and see the friendly staff at the school office. Below is a list of required uniform for our Primary students:

Students in Kinder have the option of wearing navy shorts during Term 4.  Students in Prep-Year 6 have the option of wearing navy shorts, or navy track pants if they wish, for PE.

Celebrating Students

Each week at our Friday assembly we love to celebrate our students. We would love to hear from you if your child has achieved something significant over the weekend during sporting events, dancing, baptisms, theatre, music achievements etc.
