Catholic Identity
Mercy Prayer
We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have served at St. Mary’s.
It is through their vision, determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.
We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.

Mr. Butts Fulfils Our Vision Statement!
Special thanks to Mr. Butts, who leaves St. Mary’s Primary School at the end of this term.
Mr. Butts always mentioned the Gospel values of love, forgiveness, understanding and respect at assemblies, masses and special occasions when speaking to the school community!
His passion and promotion of these values are embedded in our school and we work hard to work towards achieving them! Thank you, Anthony, for your sharing your faith and beliefs!
Our Vision statements are our core beliefs as a school.
At St Mary’s we believe that:
- We are all called to be living witnesses to the Gospel values of love, forgiveness, understanding and respect.
- Every child is given a quality education that provides them with the knowledge, skills and values to make informed decisions as committed contributors to society.
- Each person in our school community is unique and nurtured to achieve their full potential.
- We ensure that children understand our past stories, celebrate the present and build a thriving community and environment.
- We create and maintain a spirit of social justice and selfless giving, making Jesus real in our everyday lives.

Season of Creation
The Season of Creation begins on September 1st, which is the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, and ends on October 4th, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology beloved by many Christian denominations.
The theme for this year’s Season of Creation is, “To hope and act with Creation.”
The Season of Creation is a time set aside each year to focus on God’s gift of creation and our responsibility to care for it, our common home.
Please see the Season of Creation Prayer attached to this newsletter.
During this year’s Season of Creation, focus on looking after one aspect of our environment that will help make a difference to the future of our planet!
No matter how small your action, “from little things, big things grow!”

“Along the Track” article by Jim Quillinan
The latest reflective article by Jim Quillinan is titled “Just look at me” and focuses on connecting with people, especially those on the edges of our society.
"Little things like someone walking past and giving me a drink and just looking me in the eyes. I used to go around and ask people for change. You just feel invisible." she says. "Just say
no. But at least just look at me."
