Cyber Safety Presentation
All Year 7 and 8 students are participating in a presentation on cyber safety run by AFP volunteers on Tuesday 17 September. The ThinkUKnow program aims to educate young people about child exploitation online as well as raise awareness about sexual extortion. Appropriate conduct online and the rights and responsibilities that come with an individual’s presence online will also be explored.
Year 8 Outdoor Education - River Rafting Day
The Year 8 rafting trip on the Huon River is a valuable experience that emphasises teamwork, safety awareness, and problem-solving skills. As students work together to navigate the river, they will apply essential safety practices while overcoming challenges. This journey also deepens their connection to the environment, fostering a sense of responsibility and respect for nature.
Students and staff will travel to either the Huon River above Huonville or the Derwent River above New Norfolk, depending on water levels. Upon arrival, the group will inflate the rafts, gear up, and participate in a pre-trip briefing before starting the rafting adventure. Students will self-guide the rafts, with a guide closely following each raft in a kayak. In more technical sections, the guides may take over steering to ensure safety. Lunch will be enjoyed on the riverbank. No prior rafting experience is required, as this program is designed to be an introductory and enjoyable experience for all students.
