✨🔮📚BOOK WEEK📚🔮 ✨
Last week, we celebrated Book Week at SJV and what a wonderful week it was to celebrate our favourite books, authors and illustrators!!!
Whole School Parade
The annual Book Week Parade was a vibrant celebration of literature! It was incredible to see so many students dressed up in costumes representing many beloved book characters. The parade was a colourful spectacle led by some of our Year 6 leaders. Thank you to all of those parents and families who attended the parade - the enthusiastic cheers from onlookers helped to foster a love of reading and community spirit!
Adam Wallace Visit
The absolute highlight of Book Week was our visit from Adam Wallace! Adam is a well known children’s author and illustrator who has sold over 10 million books and spent 2 years on the New York Times Bestseller List. He spent the day talking about his books and the writing techniques he uses. Then he used those techniques to create amazing story ideas with our students. He also led some crazy cartooning exercises! There is no doubt that Adam was a crowd favourite with our students and he was treated like an A-list celebrity for the entire day! There was a line out the door for his autograph and Adam politely and patiently obliged even though every student received a signed copy of one of his books!!!
Lamont Book Fair
We also hosted another very successful Lamont Book Fair! Thank you so much to all of our students, parents/carers and staff for their incredible support and extremely generous contributions. It was very heartwarming to see families exploring the fair together, sharing in the joy of reading and discovering new stories.
A huge congratulations also goes to Ava in Year 1 for a very successful charity campaign! Ava put a lot of effort into making the most gorgeous bookmarks that she sold during the fair. Students from Foundation - Year 6 were so excited to purchase handmade bookmarks that sparkled or glowed in the dark. Ava donated 100% of the proceeds ($234) from the bookmarks to a charity close to her heart - Save the Children.
Book Week Activities
Along with Book Week activities in library lessons and the classrooms, some students also visited the Library at lunch time for some extra fun! Thank you again to all of the students, teachers and families who helped celebrate Book Week!!!
