Principal Team's Report
Renee Cotterell, Scott McKinnon and Melanie Brown
I hope you all enjoyed some rest and relaxation over the holiday break and managed to find some time to spend enjoying family activities. I headed off to Wilsons Promontory for a few days to recharge my batteries ready for a huge term ahead!
Term 4 is always my favourite term. It's when all of our learning comes together, goals are achieved, and we look ahead and say, 'what next?'. I'm so proud of the work our school is doing this year - we've made some huge growth in the quality and consistency of our teaching practice, ensuring that we're using the most up-to-date, research-backed strategies and techniques to obtain the best student learning outcomes possible. We've also seen a large number of improvements to our school environment, including our new perimeter fence (which has cut down the amount of vandalism and rubbish an enormous amount), the additions to our Prep play area, the clearing and refreshing of our garden areas and now, our brand new garden area between our back portables. We have some more exciting plans for our schoolyard - keep your eyes peeled next year!
Term 4 is also a crazy busy term! Our teachers are working hard to plan and deliver high-quality learning programs, whilst also trying to assess student progress and write highly informative and personalised Semester Reports. Our administrative team are working hard behind the scenes to set up our systems and processes for the end of year and have everything sorted for a smooth start to the new school year. The Leadership team are chipping away at the tasks we have to do to ensure our school continues to be high functioning and focused on a calm and orderly environment, whilst also planning strategically for the upcoming school year and beyond. Please be patient if it takes us a little longer to respond to queries and feedback this term - we're all doing our best for our school community.
Parents and Carers are reminded that a condition of enrolling at Pakenham Springs Primary School is adherence to our School Uniform. This includes the wearing of school-approved jumpers and polo shirts, the minimal wearing of jewellery, and also the requirement that hair colour be natural. Please note that our old red polo shirts are no longer acceptable. If you are having trouble securing uniform pieces, please contact our office for some assistance. Uniform breaches will be recorded via Compass, and we ask for parent/carer support in rectifying them as soon as practicable. Possible actions following frequent breaches of our Uniform policy are listed in the document attached.
Students are not to arrive at school until 8:30 am on school mornings. Staff do not begin their workday until this time, and there is insufficient supervision available in the mornings. Any student arriving before 8:30am will be asked to sit at the office and wait. We ask for your support in this matter. Likewise, under no circumstances are students allowed to leave the school grounds in the morning and go across to the shops. Not only is this incredibly unsafe, with them crossing the busy Heritage BLVD road unsupervised, but a small number of students are also coming back having purchased items inappropriate for the school day.
Please contact OSHClub if you need to organise care and supervision for your child/ren outside of 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.
Have a wonderful fortnight,
The PSPS Leadership Team
