Professional Learning Communities showcases

Ms Lisa Dunne

As part of our professional learning program at Greensborough College, our teachers have been working together in professional learning communities (PLCs).

PLCs provide teachers with time and space to probe and enhance their teaching approaches and perform a collaborative research project, with the goal of improving student outcomes.

In Semester 2, teachers have focused on developing strategies to:

-improve VCE outcomes,

or

-increase the inclusion of students with ADHD, ASD, behavioural challenges, or dyslexia in our classrooms.

Teachers who focused on enhancing the inclusion of students with ADHD, ASD, behavioural challenges, or dyslexia in our classrooms, reviewed student IEPs closely and engaged with professional learning on current best practice around supporting learners with these challenges.

They later designed, implemented and evaluated the efficacy of strategies to support their learners with ADHD, ASD, behavioural challenges, or dyslexia.

In Week 9, these teachers showcased the work they had done in PLCs. This sharing allowed us to celebrate the broad ranging knowledge and expertise of the staff at Greensborough College and provided inspiration to teachers as they continually innovate in their pedagogical approaches.

See the pictures of our teachers below as they gathered to transfer this knowledge.

Teachers who are focused on improving VCE outcomes will share their learnings in Term 4. They will use September practice exam results as the data to evaluate the efficacy of their new approaches. This is just one of the many reasons why it is imperative that VCE Unit 3 & 4 students complete the mandatory practice exams during the September holidays.

We thank staff for their dedication to this process, and their desire to provide our students with the best opportunities to learn and achieve.
