Mr Louis Turner
As we reach the end of the term, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible effort, growth, and courage I’ve seen from all of you over these past ten weeks. At the start of the term, I spoke about personal courage—the everyday bravery needed to tackle challenges, set ambitious goals, and welcome feedback with an open mind. It has been wonderful to witness so many of you embody this value, whether by persevering through difficult assignments, stepping out of your comfort zones, or striving to improve in your studies and personal growth.
This term has been filled with achievements, both big and small, and each one of you has contributed to making our school a vibrant and supportive place to learn and grow. Your commitment to learning, kindness to one another, and enthusiasm for new opportunities have been truly inspiring. As we approach the well-deserved break, I encourage you to take time to rest, recharge, and reflect on all you've accomplished. Celebrate your successes and consider the goals you want to set for the upcoming term.
Enjoy this time with your family and friends, and I look forward to seeing you all refreshed and ready for another exciting term of learning and growth.
Attendance Improvement Efforts
We are pleased to welcome Emma Shelton, our new attendance officer, who will work with us four days a week. Emma is learning our systems and will focus on following up student absences, collaborating with sub-school and wellbeing teams, communicating with parents about unapproved absences, and providing attendance reports to the leadership team.
School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support
Our Curriculum Day on 13th September focused on enhancing positive classroom management strategies and was a great success, with encouraging feedback from staff. The day covered several key areas: establishing consistent school-wide expectations, refining classroom procedures and routines, employing active supervision, creating more opportunities for students to respond, adjusting task difficulty, and providing varied activity sequences and choices. These strategies are designed to foster a more engaging and supportive learning environment for all students. We are excited to hear from students about the changes they notice in teaching and learning as we continue our efforts to build a positive and inclusive school culture.
VCE Practice Exams
The VCE practice exams will take place from Tuesday, 24th to Thursday, 26th September, during the term break. These exams are vital for all students enrolled in Unit 3 & 4 subjects, providing a valuable opportunity to gain experience, refine exam techniques, and identify areas for improvement. Full participation is expected to help each student prepare for their final assessments. Uniforms are not required, but all other VCE exam rules apply. Please check the timetable and ensure timely arrival with all necessary materials. We encourage you to approach these exams with courage and determination, knowing each effort brings you closer to your goals.
