Bernie’s Garden Update

Spring is here and the flowers are blooming in the school garden!

The garden group has been very busy tidying up and preparing for the smoking ceremony and welcome to country that is due to take place this Friday afternoon at 2:45pm in the school garden.

In 2023, Landcare provided a grant to the school to establish an edible indigenous section in our school garden and earlier this year we sourced an exciting range of traditional native edible plants.

The green team took great pride in planting the garden out in March this year, making sure each plant would thrive in its new environment.  Recently we’ve added labels to all plants to help us get to know their history and culinary uses!

The garden group was lucky to receive another grant from Merri-bek council to support the school to work with local Aboriginal communities to officially open the garden and acknowledge the country on which our garden sits.

We are so excited that the date has been set and hope as many families as possible can come to see our beautiful garden.

Thank you

A big thank you to Julia M and the BPC volunteers Chantelle, Emma, Sophie and Julia C for their help in organising the Fathers' Day and Special People stall and running it on the day.  Congratulations to the lucky raffle winners!
