Improvement Team Reports

Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Improvement Team

I would like to start by thanking the Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Improvement Team for their efforts in 2023 (Danielle Dalton, Stephanie Govender, Courtney Richmond, Ashleigh Phillips, Kiara Kearney and Robyn Hughes).

Throughout the year, the Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Improvement Team have overseen the College assessment and reporting processes, setting timelines, developing policy and providing professional development to ensure alignment in practices across the College. This year, we took the initiative to include a student reflection on Yr 7-9 students Making Connection reports, fostering a more inclusive and student-centric reporting approach to reporting.

Our team collaborated closely with the College Curriculum Learning Area Leaders to offer guidance on the development of curriculum. We actively supported staff with updating course handbooks and aimed to provide students with greater insight into their subject selections. We also developed the College Assessment and Reporting policy, designed to improve assessment practices and align reporting processes. To support the implementation of the policy, professional learning was offered enhancing our teachers’ capacity to implement the policy. Additionally, we expanded the College VET subjects, enhancing the overall academic offerings at Keysborough Secondary College.

As we prepare for the upcoming year, our team’s focus has already shifted towards the implementation of the Victorian Curriculum F-10 2.0. During this process, we will focus upon reviewing our current Middle School (Year 9-10) curriculum offerings, with the aim to increase the academic rigour, whilst ensuring student engagement. The process will require feedback from teachers, parents and students, fostering collaborative efforts to enhance our educational programs.

During 2024, we also plan to expand the Assessment & Reporting Policy to incorporate more detailed guidance for VCE students and teachers, as well as implement continuous reporting practices across the College, fostering a dynamic and ongoing dialogue between students, parents, and educators.

I am confident that the Curriculum, Assessment & Reporting Improvement Team will continue to play a pivotal role in advancing the educational excellence at Keysborough Secondary College. We appreciate the ongoing support of the school community and look forward to a successful 2024.
