STEAM EXCURSION

YEAR 7/8 STEAM CLASS

On Friday the 10th of November the year 7/8 Steam class along with Ms John, Ms Marotta and Ms McCraw went to Gippsland Tafe in Morwell.

They were given a very warm welcome by Phil and Jed who explained what Gippsland Tafe offers and what they would be doing while there.

The students were broken up into two groups and rotated around three activities during the day.

The first activity explored virtual reality which created some very funny moments for the students where they were openly laughing and verbalising what they were seeing while using the equipment.

The second activity looked at 3D design and how you might create a habitat to live on the moon. Students used computers to navigate this task where they created some very interesting habitats.

Robotics was the last activity where the students worked in groups for NASA and navigated Rovers to collect samples and return them to the space ship.

The day was very enjoyable for everyone and we thank Phil and Jed for the experience.
