Host an International School Student

International students bring a range of benefits to our schools and communities, sharing their perspectives, cultures and cuisines.

In Term 1 2024, the Department for Education will welcome around 700 international students to South Australian government schools.  Are you interested in hosting an international school student and welcoming the world home?

Aberfoyle Park High School will be welcoming over 20 international students in Term 1 2024. About six of these students are still looking for a place to call home during their stay of between four and 11 weeks in South Australia. Each of these students are Japanese boys between the ages of 14-16 who have outlined their interests in learning more about Australia.

Some students are eager to meet kangaroos and koalas, which makes for a fantastic outing with the family. Another student would like to learn how to fish, an amazing activity to do in summer time! If you aren’t too keen on fishing, you could also teach students how to play cricket on the beach. Your family will receive a homestay allowance of $340.00 per week while you are hosting.

All family types are eligible – singles, couples, families with children, empty nesters or retirees. And there’s heaps of support available to help you provide a welcoming home in 2024.
