Merry Christmas from the Prep Room

There have been many highlights during the 2023 school year for the Prep class. The first term flew by and the Foundation students settled into school well. The students enjoyed learning about letters and sounds. It was also pleasing to see their confidence developing when working with numbers in Mathematics. 

At the start of Term 3, we ventured down to the Ballarat Aquatic Centre for our annual Swim/Gym program which the Prep students loved.

We were also able to spread some kindness to the wider community by passing on our class-made colourful bouquet of flowers to the local Beaufort and District Op Shop, thanking them for all they do for our school and, in particular, helping us with a large donation for our Swim/Gym Program.

We have achieved so much as a Prep class this year, including a significant focus on student voice. Throughout the year, the Preps produced numerous brief videos, featuring the students discussing Book Week, and taking on the role of news readers, and presenting short information reports on animals they had written about.

The short video below revolves around the Christmas wishes of the students, offering a glimpse into what they would like. Parents of the featured students may find it particularly interesting. The quality of the picture is a little blurry, but the students still enjoyed making the video and then watching themselves after it was edited. I hope you enjoy watching the video.

Last week, the Junior classes had the fortunate opportunity to go on an excursion to Ballarat, where they enjoyed watching the new ‘Trolls’ movie as a celebration of their achievements throughout the year. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience. 

In closing, it has been an absolute joy to see the Preps growth and achievements this year. I am going to miss them dearly, but I know they will flourish next year. Thank you to all the Prep families for your support. The clear commmunication between us has made this year go by very smoothly. Lastly, I would like to wish you all and your loved ones a restful Christmas and a New Year of health and happiness.
