ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

Milgate Primary School would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land of the Wurundjeri People, and we would like to pay our respects to the elders both past and present. Staff, students and the school community understand that we thrive, learn and live on Wurundjeri Country and we stand with all cultures united as one.

SCHOOL DISCO

We recently had our lower and upper school Disco at Milgate Primary run by our Parents & Friends Committee. It was an amazing event where students had a fantastic time singing, dancing and getting their faces painted. The students loved getting their photos taken in the photo booth and they enjoyed getting up on stage for singing and dancing competitions.

A huge thank you needs to go out to our parent community who without them this could not have been possible. We had 65 parent volunteers for this event!  The amount of time and dedication that went in to the set up of this event was really something special and something that needs to be recognised. A very special thank you needs to go to Dolores who led and organised this huge event. We appreciate our parents volunteering their time to create these memorable events for the students.

BABY NEWS!

We have some very exciting news from two of our staff members who have just had their firstborns.

A very big congratulations to Georgia McAllister and her husband Toby on the arrival of their beautiful baby boy Miles on Tuesday 14th November. Georgia, Miles and Toby are all doing well.

Another congratulations to Carla Sacco and Jaedyn on their beautiful baby girl Victoria. Carla, Victoria and Jaedyn are all doing great as well.

END OF YEAR CONCERT

18th December at 5:30 pm

Our annual end of year concert is coming up on Monday 18th December starting at 5.30pm. It is a great night for our school community to come together and listen and watch our students perform.

Students have been learning songs/acts in their Performing Arts classes and look forward to sharing these with you on the night. These performances will start promptly at 6pm.

Please ensure that you child/children are ready and seated with their teachers by 5.45pm on the blue basketball court so we can promptly start. We look forward to seeing your all there.

YEAR 4 BIKE ED

Our Year 4 students have been enjoying their Bike Ed this week, learning valuable bike skills and safety when riding on the road. Today the students were able to venture further, leaving the school grounds to go for a ride along the Mullum Mullum trail. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to put into practice the range of skills that they have developed throughout the week. Thank you to our Year 4 teachers, parent volunteers and James Will for organising and running this program for the students.

ENVIRONMENTAL TEAM

Earlier this term we had members of the Environmental Team create a sustainable scarecrow for the Bunnings Doncaster Halloween event. Bunnings donated a frame, twine and filling, and we used leftover props from our Musical to create a ‘Shrekcrow’ - our Shrek-themed scarecrow. Shrek now stands proudly over the vegetable garden outside 5RC near the stadium, so please go and take a look. Special thanks to our staff Monique Calleja and Michelle Turner for their time working on the Shrek with the students.

This week we had 3 winners of trash free Tuesday, a huge congratulations to 3TW (winners two weeks in a row!!) and 5CC and 5RC! All the classes had only 1 piece of rubbish! WOW!

As a school there were 140 pieces of rubbish.

We also had these amazing carrots harvested from our vegetable garden in front of 5RC.

On Friday, the classes that raised the most money for our Fun Run got to enjoy their prizes. 1MC and 2TE had a pizza lunch and extended play, and 5CC enjoyed an icy pole and extended play. 1MC as the overall winner also had a movie afternoon and watched ‘Movie Name’ together. Special thanks once again to our whole school community for their efforts in raising money for a new playground. We will share more information regarding the new playground in the near future.
