Teacher Excellence Program

As a part of our ongoing professional development, we have a number of staff that have completed extra study in 2023.  Congratulations to Ms. Chloe Murphy and Ms. Tenille Webb, who just last week completed their Teacher Excellence Program course at the Victorian Teaching Academy. Courses such as this allow your children’s teachers access to best practice pedagogy and a chance to work with some of Australia’s best educators.  In exciting news, we can share that Ms. Stephanie White and Ms. Caitlin Moritis have been accepted into the program for 2024.

New Tutoring Room

We are very excited to share that our old art room in the Prep building has been recently renovated well ahead of time.  This space will be used as a room for support programs in 2024. Staff overseeing literacy support, numeracy support, language support, English as an additional language and various extension programs will be based in this area, facilitating programs for our children.  Works included new painting, new carpet and new joinery.

End of Year Assembly

On Friday 15th December at 2:30pm we will hold our final assembly for the year and celebrate our Year 6 students completing their education at Plenty Parklands.  Our choir and dance troop will perform, specialist awards will be presented, and the graduating cohort of students will also undertake a final presentation to their peers.  Parents are very welcome to join us in the school gym and students will be dismissed from their classrooms at 3:30pm.

Assessment and Reporting

Student reports will go out live on Compass for parents on Monday 11th December.  These reports provide a summation of your child’s academic performance throughout the year.  Should you have any questions please feel free to contact teachers, or the Leading Teacher overseeing your child’s area of the school.  Reports will contain information on academic performance in literacy and numeracy, as well as in the specialist areas your child has participated in during semester 2.

Congratulations

I am very proud to announce that two of our staff have been successful in obtaining leadership roles in other schools for 2024 and beyond.  Ms. Lauren Hart is heading to Edgars Creek Primary School as a Learning Specialist and Ms. Emma Wallmeyer has been appointed at Laurimar Primary School as a Learning Specialist.  In other staffing news, Mr. Anthony Lentini, who has helped us out throughout the year covering for Julie Gatt (Acting Assistant Principal at Lalor East), will be returning to his preferred role as a casual relief teacher and has ensured us that we will see lots of him next year.

Family Time

Whilst I am sure that I will see most of you around the school in the next two weeks or at one of our various functions as the year comes to an end, can I take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a safe holiday period. Holidays are an important time for students and their parents/guardians to spend time together.  Enjoy the warm summer days, and we look forward to seeing your children ready for another great year of learning in late January. To those families that are leaving for another school or have their youngest child graduating Year 6, we thank you for allowing us to be a part of your child’s development and wish you all the best in future endeavours.
