Wellbeing

with Lisa Osborne

It's amazing how quickly time is flying! I can't believe that next week we celebrate Easter and start school holidays. It has been another busy couple of weeks at BPS with lots going on for students and staff.  With building works commencing, 3U and 3P having to share the multipurpose space, NAPLAN and getting ready for Holi Festival and Chinese day, I have witnessed a lot of incredible teamwork, co-operation, creativity, perseverance and patience! Well done everyone!!

In a community the size of BPS we also get to experience and learn about many different cultures, religions and traditions. As a new member of this community, I have appreciated the respectful, kind way that the BPS community works together and supports one another in our diversity.

Sometimes at school I get to chat with different kids about the challenges they face when relationships in their worlds aren't always respectful or kind. I listen to how they feel about conflicts they may be experiencing or witnessing. I had one child say recently that they just wanted the fighting to end.

Relationships and doing life in community can have its challenges at times. Whether you're an adult or a child practising kindness and respect, perseverance and patience require a choice. Personally, Easter reminds me about choices we make and the significant impact our choices can have on our lives and those around us. Regardless of our differences, or perhaps even our hurts, I hope we can all choose respect and kindness this Easter and over the holidays as we connect with family and friends. Please feel free to contact me if you or your family need support.

Have a blessed time and a relaxing break. I look forward to catching up with you and your kids in Term 2:)
