Principal's Report

How did we get to end of Term One so quickly!

Thanks to all the staff and students for a great terms work.  It has been an incredibly busy term and we should be incredibly proud of what we are doing at BPS.  I hope that the children and teachers enjoy the very well deserved break. We look forward to everyone’s safe return for the start of term 2 on Monday 15th April.

LEAVE

I am excited to let everyone know that I will be taking leave to start next term, 29th March – 1st May.

During my absence, I understand the importance of ensuring the continuity of leadership and maintaining the smooth operation of our school. Therefore, Marianne Fusillo will step into the Acting Principal role and Sue Battista will support Marianne as Acting Assistant Principal.

The trust I have in Marianne and the capabilities of our dedicated staff, team to uphold the high standards of our school. It is a nice piece of feedback that I can feel so comfortable stepping out of the school and knowing that it will continue to be led and run so capably.

Cross Country

What a marvellous day for our Cross Country last week - another great event from Mrs P! Well done to our winning house! Thanks to Merissa for her preparation for the event and to those who have offered and willingly supported the day. Such an amazing day and very proud of the way our kids encouraged each other and ran to their very best.

Parent as Helpers Training

Thank you to the many parents who joined us on the 9th March for our Parent Helper Training session. Parents are guided to learn the routines of the classroom and be able to assist children in the learning process.  Teachers value parental assistance to help with reading, writing, maths and computer activities and for special activities like sports and excursions.

A huge thank you to Sue Battista and Lou Tribolet who led the session.

NAPLAN

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for all the hard work our students and teachers put into preparing for and completing NAPLAN last week.

NAPLAN is an important assessment that helps to identify areas where students may need additional support or resources, and our teachers ensuring our students are well-prepared is essential to their success.

We look forward to sharing these results with families shortly.

Australian Early Development Census (AEDC)

Between May and July this year, our school will be taking part in the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC). This is a nationwide census/survey of early childhood development held once every three years. The AEDC is an Australian Government initiative run by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment and includes all children in their first year of full-time school.

The AEDC provides vital information to communities about how children are developing in the crucial early years. AEDC data is relied upon by schools, early childhood organisations, researchers and government to inform planning and improve services and supports for children and families.

Please contact me if you don't want your child to take part.

EARLY FINISH

A reminder that we finish Term One on Thursday 28th March at 2.30pm, we will end a very busy Term. Please make sure your pick up arrangements are adjusted for this earlier finish.

Have a wonderful break and I looked forward to seeing you all back when I return in May.
