Japanese

Minasan Konnichiwa! (Hello everyone.)

Welcome to Week 6 Japanese.

Year 5/6

Year 5/6 students have been practicing how to introduce themselves in Japanese. Our goal is to be able to say their name, age, grade and zodiac sign in Japanese and many students have already reached the goal. Well done!

Year 3/4

Year 3/4 students are going to talk to Japanese students both in English and Japanese tomorrow. They will be in small groups and introduce themselves in Japanese first and then answer some questions in English. They will find out what kind of things Japanese students like and make some bookmarks with their favourite things on them to send to Japan. Japanese students will do the same so it will be exciting to get a parcel from Japan sometime in the year!

Year 1/2

Year 1/2 students practiced body parts, 7 days of the week, colours and how to count people in Japanese. We also made an origami piano, which was very popular! They played online games on the ELLA (Early Learning Languages Australia) program to reinforce the colour vocabulary and sentences.

Foundation

Foundation students continued to learn well. They practiced some greetings such as ohayo-good morning, konnichiwa-hello, sayonara-good bye and see you tomorrow-mata ashita, some animals, counting 1-10, how to indicate likes and body parts in Japanese. We had the first session to use ELLA (Early Learning Languages Australia) program on their iPads. They were well-engaged to learn Japanese words with fun way!
