Welcome the first STEM page!

For the first two school terms of the year we will be focussing on Cybersafety and Engineering.  

Last week in Cybersafety we looked at:

Foundation /Year 1 and 2 

We learnt about Billy the Bilby's Super Power is:

"I investigate- I question what I see, hear and do online"

Students discussed:

 Just because it’s online, doesn’t mean it’s true

Example of when you saw something online that you knew wasn’t true? How did you know it wasn’t true? Such as a fake news story or a picture that has been edited to make something unusual look real

Years 3/4 and Year 5/6

Scams!!

Last week we looked at Scams and how to identify them using a range of strategies such as spelling mistakes, too many positive reviews, ridiculous offers and unrealistic prices. 

Students were also interested to learn that scams not only happen when things are being bought or sold but also in quizzes, competitions, games, emails and texts. If you come across a scam, please take the time to show it to your child and talk about it.

We also looked at fake websites and discussed that just because it is on the internet doesn't mean it's true.
