Grade 2 

Welcome back to a new school year!

Our students have been enjoying the Setting Up for Success program. They have explored themselves and what they have in common, as well as what makes them unique. Each class has created a set of expectations and a class goal/promise to work towards throughout the year. Each student has also investigated what makes a good friend and have worked on forming new relationships with the teachers and students in our grades.

In English, students have been exploring the routines and expectations of the Reading and Writing workshop. They have been exploring what good readers and writers do and how writing pieces are created. Students are learning to gather ideas for their writing and work through the writing process. They are given the opportunity to choose whether they want to continue a piece of writing or begin something new.

In Mathematics, the Grade Two students have been exploring a variety of games using their number knowledge. The students have used hands on materials to explore number facts as the place value of numbers. They have enjoyed playing mathematics games as a class as well as in pairs or small groups.
