Year 7 Camp

In Week 5, our Year 7 cohort travelled to the Illawarra Region for their first Senior School Camp. 145 College and Grammar students spent 3 days in Kiama and surrounding areas exploring the coastline and building new relationships with their peers and teachers.

On Day 1, our College girls arrived in Gerroa and participated in surfing, mountain biking and beach games before staying their first night at Chittick Lodge. Our Grammar boys arrived in Kiama and participated in snorkelling, a rock pool swim and exploration of the famous Kiama Blowhole. The boys then cooked their dinner using Trangia camp stoves and camped their first night at East Beach.

On Day 2, the four College groups embarked on their 9-kilometre coastal hike between Werri Beach and East Beach. They arrived at East Beach challenged by their walk and ready to set up their campsites and cook their dinner on Trangia camp stoves. The Grammar boys travelled via bus to Gerroa to participate in their surfing, mountain biking and beach games program. Then the boys travelled back to Chittick Lodge to stay their second night of camp in accommodation.

On Day 3, the College girls participated in their final day of the program, exploring the Kiama Blowhole and snorkelling and swimming in the Kiama Harbour. The Grammar boys embarked on their 9-kilometre coastal hike from East Beach to Werri Beach. The 9 groups departed the Illawarra Region after lunch and dodged some engine trouble before arriving back at school on Wednesday afternoon tired, but full of stories of their 3-day journey.

A big thank you goes out to Mr Luke McKee, Ms Jenny Cook and the 11 teachers who accompanied the College and Grammar groups on their first Senior School camp. We look forward to hearing more about the activities and new friendships formed during their time away.
