Stage 2

A message from Stage 2

This year, our Stage 2 teachers are Lyn Burgess, Elliot Chapman, Lauren Corby, Ben Laurie, Sue Lye, Anna-Marie Paul and Amanda Swain. We are also fortunate to have Sarah Pryce, Fiona Clayton and Kellie Divall supporting specific learning needs across our stage.

This term we look forward to:

English

We will be learning about narratives through a variety of texts including Fantastic Mr Fox. We will be developing our understanding of text structure and a range of techniques authors use to provide rich descriptions.

Mathematics

Maths groups will continue to run across Stage 2 this year. We have begun working on the ‘Whole Number’ strand to develop and consolidate our understanding of place value and number patterns. We look forward to Mrs Pryce joining our teaching team during this time, enabling us to reduce our group numbers.

Science

This term we will be investigating forces and functions. Students will question, explore, and experiment with different types of forces including gravity and magnetism. They will be involved in a range of practical experiments throughout the term.

PD and Health

We will review our understanding of healthy friendships and develop ways to deal with ‘Friendship Fires’ and ‘Mean on Purpose’ behaviour through our participation in the URStrong program. We have begun by first considering how we can be kind to ourselves. Stage 2 students and teachers have all worked together to develop ‘’PAX Visions’ for peaceful, productive and happy classrooms.

Sport

Stage 2 will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports including soccer, touch football, ultimate frisbee, netball, throwing and catching, and circus skills. Students are encouraged to wear their sports uniform on Wednesdays as this is our Stage 2 Sport day.
