Student Wellbeing

What makes Greenhills GREAT!

At Greenhills, we believe in fostering values that shape not only our students' academic success but also them as a person. Our Greenhills GREAT values are the cornerstone of our school community. Our staff model and teach these values each day and they are the driving force of what makes a GREAT school culture and Greenhills such a GREAT place to be.

G is for Grit (murrup), which is the determination and resilience to persevere through challenges. At Greenhills, we encourage our students to face obstacles head-on, knowing that every setback is an opportunity for growth. We teach the importance of having a growth mindset, using the words "haven't got it yet” when we are faced with a challenge.

R is for Respect (gahgook), which is at the heart of everything we do. We respect ourselves, each other, and our environment. By fostering a culture of respect, we create a safe and inclusive community where everyone feels valued. As mentioned in last week's newsletter, respect has been the main focus of our Get Set Connect program. We will also be having regular principal awards focused on respect, which your child may receive.

E is for Effort (murmuk), which is the key to success. We believe in the power of hard work and dedication. Whether it's in the classroom or on the playground, we encourage our students to always give their best effort. Your child may also receive an effort principal award through showing determination in their learning.

A is for Adventure (yana), which we hope awaits every student around every corner at Greenhills. We embrace new experiences and opportunities for learning and exploration. From learning adventures to creative endeavours, we encourage our students to step out of their comfort zones and embrace the excitement of discovery.

T is for Teamwork (murmuk djerring), which is an important real-life skill for all our students to develop. We believe in the power of collaboration and cooperation. Through teamwork, our students learn valuable communication skills, empathy, and the importance of working together towards a common goal.

We continue to focus on building connections within our school community, and we are thrilled to see the impact it has had. From the strong relationships between students and teachers to the supportive bonds among classmates, our school community thrives on connection.

As we embark on another exciting year at Greenhills, let's continue to embody our Greenhills GREAT values and foster a community where every student feels empowered to learn, grow, and succeed.

We encourage parents at home to discuss our Greenhills GREAT values at home with their child/ren. This home and school connection can play a huge impact on your child’s academic and personal growth.

You may also see our Principal team and Specialist team out on a Monday morning having some fun with students in something we call Monday Madness. Please join us in embracing the spirit of Monday Madness and get involved in some play, juggling, limbo and general fun. Stay tuned for some more information about this in upcoming newsletters.
