COMMUNITY SPORTING ACHIEVEMENTS
If your child achieves something special (grand final win, most valuable player award, best and fairest etc.), please email me (jordan.daley@education.vic.gov.au) through photos and an overview of the achievement to post in Contact. It is important to celebrate and recognise such successes with the school community.
Thank you,

CHOIR NOTES
RECITAL CHOIR:
It was wonderful starting rehearsals for the year with the 2024 Recital Choir on Tuesday morning. Despite the heat the students left rehearsal singing a piece in 3 parts. Our first performance will be early next term at the Salvation Army.
TRAINING CHOIR:
Please note that a Compass Notification about signing up to the Training Choir has been sent home to all Grade 3 students and students in Grade 4 who missed out on getting into the Recital Choir. The Training Choir is a Choir for students who love singing and would like to try singing in a group situation. Rehearsals are on Thursday mornings at 8.00a.m. in the Music Room. The first rehearsal will be on Thursday 22nd February. Please if you don't wish for your child to attend, please decline the event.
I look forward to a wonderful year of singing!

OFFICE NEWS
Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF)
School camps provide children with inspiring experiences in the great outdoors. Excursions encourage a deeper understanding of how the world works while sports teach teamwork, discipline and leadership. All are a part of a healthy curriculum. CSEF is provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities.
If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible for CSEF. A special consideration category also exists for asylum seeker and refugee families. The allowance is paid to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions or sporting activities for the benefit of your child.
The annual CSEF amount per primary school student is $150.
If you received CSEF in 2023 you do not need to apply again, however if you are new to Greenhills and have a valid concession card or have an additional child (eg Prep) that commenced in 2024, please complete this form(or can be picked up from the office) and hand into the office with a copy of your Concession card.
Any queries please don’t hesitate to contact the office.
Attendance
Students must be accounted for every school day. If your child is not present in class and we have no explanation, then we will automatically send all family members an email at 10am. If you receive an email, it is important that you explain their absence ASAP. If your child is going to be away, please notify the school by entering the absence on Compass (this can be done in advance, or explained after). You can do this easily in the Compass app or on the website. If your child is going to be absent for a long period, an email should be sent requesting this leave to James Penson: james.penson@education.vic.gov.au
Student Arrival/Departure
If you need to collect your child early for an appointment, please come to the office to sign them out. Due to relevant school policies, we are unable to have students waiting in the office, so please allow time to sign out and collect from the classroom (the office will advise if they are in a Specialist class). Please collect your child before or after recess and lunch times as they may not hear the announcements during recess and lunchtime. If your child arrives at school after 9.00am (after the morning bell has finished) they must come to the office for a late pass. Please do not send students straight to their classroom after 9.00am.
OHS Volunteer Induction
We have a number of ways parents/carers can help at Greenhills. Eg, classroom helper, Excursions, BBQ’s, Canteen etc. To assist in any way this year, you must complete the 2024 OHS Volunteer Induction. You are required to have a current Working with Children’s Check. Note this needs to be completed on a Yearly basis.
NEXT DATE:
Friday 16th of February 9am or online via: Forms and Notices (greenhillsps.vic.edu.au)
Staff Car Park
The staff car park is not available for parents to drop off and pick up children between 8am and 4pm (this includes dropping off at Choir rehearsal). Please use the council-provided parking facilities at the front of the school. For the safety of all, please do not walk children through the staff car park.
Thankyou,
The Office Team.
CANTEEN
"Welcome to everyone"
Canteen lunch orders are available on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. They can be ordered via QKR up until 9am on the day or can be via an envelope with the child's name, class, order and money handed in to the office.
There are a variety of items that can be purchased at the canteen window and this now includes Sakata cheese stars at 50c a packet. This item is gluten free.
Keep an eye out - Moosies are coming back soon.
If you have a child with a food allergy, you are welcome to come to the canteen and check out what there is or if you have a suggestion for the canteen, please let me know.
Helpers Needed
If you have a spare hour on a Wed, Thurs or Fri between 1pm and 2pm, come along and help in the canteen. There is no food preparation involved, it's very simple and the kids love seeing parents there!
You need to have completed the Volunteer Induction, and sign up through CareBookings - www.carebookings.com.au - access code is JGU9L.
Helpers get a canteen voucher for their kids to use for their next lunch order!
From,
Miriam
