Leadership Centre

Highlight

Selamat siang,

This week has been filled with an abundance of thrilling new discoveries for the students in the Leadership Centre.

In Maths, we have been continuing to explore fractions including what we already know about them, revising numerators and denominators and their purpose in the world around us. We have also focused on strategies to help us estimate while using fractions and using cuisenaire rods to help construct and manipulate fractions in their equivalent forms.

Elijah said “I really enjoyed the fraction estimation game. It was challenging at first, but I persevered and got more confident as I practiced”.

Our Guided Inquiry unit on Identity has continued to evolve, as we have finalised our interviews and begun editing them. Students are also finalising their persuasive posters in the hopes of cooking their recipe of choice.

We have begun our Reading Rotations and are loving using the OzBox cards to explore non-fiction texts. It has also been a great chance for students to work on their Reading goals and providing evidence of their progress. In Guided Reading, we have investigated short fiction texts with a focus on building our comprehension skills including predicting, inferring and summarising .

Have a restful weekend,

The Leadership Centre Teachers
