MINUTES OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

DATE: Monday 4th March 2024

 

MEETING OPENED: 7:05 pm.

ATTENDEES: Sarah M, Enas R, Karen G, Elizabeth S, Kylie C, Moussa C, Karla W, Jennifer H, Yasmin, Emma, Alisse S, Belinda H

 

APOLOGIES: Siobhan B, Andrea M

AGM: The Principal, Mrs Karla Wilson declared all executive positions of the P&C Committee vacant.

PRESIDENT: Nomination: Sarah Marinovic.

(Nominated by Karen and seconded by Elizabeth).

Sarah Marinovic accepted the nomination and was elected President.

VICE PRESIDENT: Nomination: Karen Gambian.

(Nominated by Sarah M and seconded by Moussa).

Karen Gambian accepted the nomination and was elected Vice President.

SECRETARY: Nomination: Enas Robertson

(Nominated by Sarah M and seconded by Jennifer).

Enas Robertson accepted the nomination and was elected Secretary.

TREASURER: Nomination: Jennifer Hearne.

(Nominated by Elizabeth and seconded by Kylie).

Jennifer Hearne accepted the nomination and was elected Treasurer.

FUNDRAISING: VACANT

 

CLOSE OF AGM: The AGM was concluded, and the regular monthly meeting commenced immediately.

PREVIOUS MINUTES:         -

CORRESPONDENCE:           Nil.

 

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:                 

  • Thank you to the outgoing Committee and congratulations to those who have accepted new positions.
  • Building works: Toilets in junior playground are being renovated and this will include: new toilets, new tiles as per regulations, automatic flush urinals, mirrors, hand dryers and fresh pain. Should be completed and open soon. Senior toilets are next.
  • Class formation for 2024: We have 452 students. 16 classes next year, with a mix of straight and composite classes K-6. Very full classes. 
  • Canteen – tender: Request to approve call for new tenders for school canteen – All P&C Approve. Current tender ends 16th July 2024.
  • Nature Garden: Requoted the proposed nature garden to incorporate the trip hazard on the astroturf by extending the garden edging to incorporate affected area with seating.  Approx. $170,000. $41,000 funds available from P & C. P & C could potentially contribute a portion of the funds towards the project. 
  • ~ very expensive, possibly replace current equipment instead, investigate shelter near Kindy classrooms as alternative. 
  • Naplan: teachers to go through what the questions would look like to familiarise students.

 

EASTER RAFFLE:

  • Booklet to be sent out to all families. 
  • Raffle to be drawn 28th March 2023.
  • Prizes donated by P & C.

MOTHERS DAY STALL:

  • Mothers day stall to be held on Thursday 9th May 2024.
  • Gifts need to be ordered ASAP. 
  • Budget approved for upto $4,500 – (includes extra $500 for next year gifts)
  • Gifts to be priced at $10
  • Call out for mother’s day committee volunteers.

DISCO:

  • Discussion had to bring forward to possibly end of September in term 3 rather than term 4, as term 4 is usually much busier for families.

 

DANCE:

  • SPAF auditions are early September.

 

UPCOMING MEETINGS:       

 

Future P & C Meeting dates will be on rotating days of the week. The next P&C meeting will take place on Tuesday 9th April 2024 at 7pm in the Gumbuya Centre . A notice will be placed in eNews.
