From Our School Leaders

Rigour Sessions In Full Swing!

We have really got stuck into our new Rigour Sessions and the students are ready to come in each day and get started. All grades across the school are implementing targeted skills in spelling, handwriting and fundamental maths, and students are practising daily. A big congratulations to our staff for their work in planning and implementing this into their teaching schedules.

Anaphylaxis

We have a few children in the school who have allergies to foods and insect bites, and some of these students have an anaphylactic reaction. Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction when children come into contact with allergens or eat foods they are allergic to.

At Scoresby PS we conduct annual anaphylaxis training for all staff and have processes and department policies in place. It is Education Department policy to encourage families NOT to bring nuts to school, but there is no blanket ban on nuts in any Victorian school. Nuts are considered a good part of a healthy diet for most people, and we encourage you to eat your nuts and nut products at home.  We thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

Wednesday 6th  March

Book in via COMPASS

Bookings for the 10-minute Parent-Teacher Getting to Know You Interviews are now open on Compass.  The interviews are being held on-site this year from 2.00-6.00pm. Teachers can send a webex link if you are unable to attend face-to-face due to work commitments. Children will remain on site as usual until 3.30pm.

Peer Mediators

Congratulations to our Peer Mediators who have begun working with students out in the yard. They have been trained to help our younger students sort out small problems in break times.  They are very excited to be helpful members of our Scoresby community, and be a role model for our younger students.

Working Bee

Our first Working Bee for 2024 will be this Sunday 3rd March, and forms part of our Clean Up Australia participation.  The Working Bee will run from 10.00am-12.00pm and you are welcome to come for a short time or the whole time!

We are looking at redeveloping the garden beds around the staff carpark and need to remove the shrubs and grasses along this area.  In the week following the Working Bee, all students will be involved in creating new garden beds along this space using old tyres and painting them to look colourful.

What to bring:

  • Gardening gloves
  • Hat
  • Gardening tools, including shovels, picks, secateurs, loppers etc...

If you are able to attend, please fill out the google form by following the link below: https://forms.gle/phfYiSxSxWZqGcpt9
