VICTORIAN ALL SCHOOLS TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

A number of athletes participated at the Victorian All Schools Track and Field Championships at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park over the past two weekends. Our students were up against the best of the best from all schools across the state, as competitors were vying for qualifying times, distances and heights for the Australian All Schools Championships, and some for-World Qualifiers. A fantastic experience for all involved!

Year 8 Softball State Finals

Our Year 8 girls softball team finished Runners up at Eastern Region Finals on Thursday November 2nd. As Eastern region has the largest participant numbers in softball, we were invited to the State Finals at Waverley Softball Association to compete a week later on Thursday November 9th.

The team started positively easily defeating Northern Bay College (Geelong) 28-11. The girls batted and fielded strongly and ran the bases aggressively. Our second match was against Gladstone Park SC who had some experienced baseball players and several strong hitters. We played a tight match that was tied until the last innings but unfortunately despite some quality softball, we were unable to contain their batters and lost 20 -13. Our final game was against McKinnon SC and the girls had lots of fun trying out some different positions. We batted very strongly and won 28 -10.

Congratulations to all of our team, finishing equal third at State finals is a great achievement! The girls should be commended on their commitment to training and focus on improving. A huge thank you to Maddie Weller who volunteered a great deal of her time to help the girls train and coached at each of our three competitions this year. Thank you also to Ms Arthur for her assistance at training and to the parents and grandparents who came to support the team.
