From the Acting Principal

Term 4 Week 7

Hi all Parents and Carers,

What a fantastic event the PFOL Obstacle Course and Colour Run was!  It was great to see so many parents able to attend and help out. The children seemed to have a ball with the highlights being the colour zone and the sprinklers, which turned out to be very refreshing on a hot day.  A day like this can’t happen without the hard work of people like Michelle Rabbito and Natalie Stead. They spent the weeks leading up to the event organising everything down to a T.  I know they were a little nervous when I said leave the obstacles to me but with the help of Liz and the senior students, I think we came up with a great course that the children will talk about for the rest of the year.  I've already been hearing from students how we can add to it next year.  So to Michelle, Natalie and their hard working band of volunteers thank you for the outstanding job you did, it looks like we have an annual event.

Prep 2024 2nd Transition Session

We welcomed our 2024 Prep students for the second time on Wednesday 15th of November. As could be expected the new Preps were very enthusiastic and headed off to the Prep classroom for more familiarisation fun activities. This week they also had short sessions with the four specialist teachers, taking in DigiTech, Italian, Performing Arts and PE. I didn’t ask at the end which was their favourite but my Magic Hula Hoop trick and a free ball give away are hard to beat.  We look forward to having all our 2024 Preps back with us for our 3rd session on Wednesday 22nd when they will get the opportunity to do some activities with this year's Preps and their future Year 6 Buddies as we begin to build the relationships within the school community. They will then be back later in the term for a Christmas Party.

Jakovcic families ...

for their incredible efforts in last Saturday’s Working Bee. We achieved some wonderful and vital tasks to keep our yards in great shape. The new Mud Kitchens have been a huge hit with the Junior students. Plenty of other less glamorous tasks like weeding, planting, cleaning gutters, shovelling mulch, building retaining walls and cleaning up leaf litter were completed. It was a great turnout for the first Working Bee since Covid and I look forward to seeing even more families at the first one next year.

School Advisory Council AGM Reminder

A reminder that the School Advisory Council (SAC) has scheduled its AGM for Tuesday 21st November at 7:00 pm in the school Staff Room.

Anyone interested in becoming a member of the School Advisory Council may seek advice from the school principal, chair (Kate Lewis) or another member of the council.

Events

The Christmas Carols are turning into the ‘must attend’ event of the year. If coming along and seeing your children singing their hearts out onstage isn’t enough of an incentive, then we have even more! The PFOL will be running a family BBQ for the hour before the Carols. The FIRE Carrier leaders will be holding a cake stall to raise money for the Opening The Doors Foundation and the Year 5/6 students will be running a Christmas and Craft Market Stall. It has always been a great night and now it is even bigger. We hope to see you all there.

Regards,

Mark Pinkerton

Acting Principal
