VCE Art Show2023
October 2023
The highlight of the year is always our VCE Art Exhibition. Last week the Performing Arts Centre was turned into a wonderful Art Gallery - all the VCE Art – Making and Exhibiting, Visual Communication Design and Media work was put on display. The opening night on Thursday, 5 October attracted hundreds of people as they enjoyed viewing the work and the accompanying festivities.
Mr Ruff spoke about the importance of the Visual Arts and presented a number of Principal Awards, acknowledging the commitment and high standard of work by our students. Special mention was made of Veronica Rojas (Art) and Ryan Harrison (Media) for the high quality of their Year 12 products. After Ms Holmes' speech, the show was officially opened by Bec Arandall, a former Mullauna student who completed VCE in 2016.
Bec spoke about her seven year journey beyond high school, gaining two degrees, specialising in Environment and Sustainability. She explained how her creativity is now expressed through her making recycled earrings with her own company ‘Hoops Relooped’. Bec had much praise for the high quality of our students' work. She spoke about the importance of exhibitions like ours, and her fond memories of being an Art student and exhibiting her own work in the VCE exhibitions in Years 11 and 12.
The Exhibition was then open for viewing for the next 3 school days. We invited over 400 students from 4 local Primary schools to come and enjoy the show and a great time was had by all. All our regular classes also visited the Show and learnt about Gallery spaces and the different types of artworks that our senior students had created.
Congratulations to all the exhibiting students!
A personal thank you to all of the staff that exhibited, those who supported us on the night and those also who helped to set up the show (especially Kathleen Robinson) - without you all it could not have happened.
