Growth, Experience and Celebration

Here we all are at the other end of the year, CATs completed over Weeks 7 and 8 leading to reports that will show student achievements and areas for improvement in Year 8. Thanks to families who contacted us about absences, so that teachers could make other arrangements for assessment. The November LBU (Learning Behaviour Update) scores showed that 39 of our 96 students achieved over 3.5 out of 4. A further 27 students scored over 3.0, which deserves a BIG well done for consistency.

Firstly, we would like to congratulate students who showed growth after settling in to all the change secondary school brings to learning routines. If we compare the 6 months from May to November, the following students lifted their LBU scores considerably:

*Vincent Klein 7A          *Sebastian Close 7A        *Ryan Standing 7A          *Rahzel Morley 7B

*Thomas Webber 7B    *Andrea Coates 7C           *Leah Tassell 7C               *Bella Lear 7D

*Kain Murphy 7D

Next are students who have maintained very high scores in all areas of their LBU Reports including completing tasks on time, completing work, arriving on time, class participation, preparation and working respectfully with others:

*Jacinta Collins 7A      *Sage Jobling 7A       *Rahaf Ahmad 7A     *Charlotte Prokopiwskyi 7A

*Natalie Baker 7A        *Pippa Brown 7A       *Skylah Russell 7A    *Mia Fede 7A

*Lilly Ormerod 7B        *Katherine Steadman-McCarthy 7C            *Makayla Simpson 7B

*Riley Walter 7D            *Aliyah Griffiths 7D    *Sienna Tanti 7D       *Seth Perry 7D

It has been our pleasure to recognise the many students whose name made it to our assembly wheel spins and who may not have been mentioned above. Many students competed in sport here at school and against other schools, others participated cheerfully at Camp Coolamatong, also in the Thinking Olympics and on our special theme days and lunchtime activities too!

It has been a fun year which was celebrated at the Year 7 Churchill Campus Awards afternoon. It was lovely to see so many parents of award winners attending.

Art

Students have been working hard on making a 3D sculpture for the majority of the term. They have worked hard to plan, research, construct from recycling, plaster, and paint to decorate their Plaster Puppy. Students have demonstrated their critical and creative thinking skills by working out how to create the shapes of their puppy from the materials available. Students had fun exploring how to use plaster strips for the first time.
