We’ve had a busy past few weeks preparing for the end of the semester, finalising Common Assessment Tasks and preparing for our HeadStart program.  Students will be receiving feedback on their CATs in Week 9, beginning November 27th.  It is important for students to receive feedback that will provide valuable advice on what they are doing well and ways to improve.

Our campus awards will also be held in week 9.  The campus awards are an important part of our school calendar.  It is a time to reflect on the year that has passed and to acknowledge the achievements of our students and the school.

On Monday 4th of December, our students will begin their studies in the 2024 Year Level.  Students will meet their new Year Level Team Leader and team of staff.  There is always excitement around this time, as it offers new opportunities for students.  Our current Year 10 students will begin their Year 11 studies one week earlier on the 27th of November.   We were able to farewell our Year 10s at the recent Year 10 formal. I wish them all the best for the next stage of their studies.

As we farewell the seniors of our campus, we welcome our grade six students who will join us for a three-day orientation program from Friday 8th of December.

As students take up new challenges and changes so too do some of our staff.

In 2024 I will be taking on a new College role as one of the School Improvement Principals.  I will be working with our Learning Specialists from across the college to strengthen our practices to, ultimately, improve student outcomes for all students. I am especially looking forward to working across the college to support students and staff in our improvement agenda.

In my place and beginning for the HeadStart program, will be Reece Malcolmson.  Reece is currently an Assistant Principal at Kurnai College, working as a School Improvement Principal.  Reece is a highly regarded member of staff who has worked at Kurnai College in the past and came to us in 2023 from Morwell Central, where he had an Assistant Principal role.

Karen Anders will be joining the Learning Specialist team and will be based at Morwell Campus.  Karen’s curriculum knowledge, teaching and learning experience sees her well placed to drive the school improvement work going forward.

Robert Xu will also be joining the Morwell Campus team to continue his work as a Maths and Humanities teacher.  I wish them all the best as they take on their new roles.

We are currently in the process of finalising recruitment for 2024 and further updates will be provided in a subsequent newsletter.
