🏊🏼‍♀️ Swimming

We have now completed day one of our program. The students were amazing! They dove right into their lessons with enthusiasm and showed wonderful independence in getting ready for swimming and getting organised afterwards too!

📚 Reading

We continue to look at the importance of inferring - using the clues in the picture or text to work out something when it hasn't been explained or has been implied but not directly stated.

What can you do at home?

-Assist your child to read their take home book each night.

-Read a book to your child.

-Ask questions of your child about what they believe the text is about, what they understand is happening and why.

🔡 Phonics

This week we will be learning the 'or' sound (made by 'or, aw, au').

What you can do at home?

-What words can you find that have 'or' in your take home books or texts that you read?

📝 Writing

Students will continue planning and drafting a narrative text, based on a known story. We will be using our iPads to help us with this process. We will also be planning and drafting a story in a set time.

What can you do at home?

-Check your child is using the correct pencil grip (pointer finger on top).

-Practise writing sentences with a capital letter at the beginning of the sentence and a full stop at the end.

-Unpack the stories you read with your child/ren to name the characters, setting, beginning, middle (problem) and end.

🔢  Maths

Students are exploring division thinking through sharing, the use of repetitive subtraction and the creation of equal smaller groups. We are also looking at all aspects of measurement over the coming weeks, including length, mass, volume, area, capacity and time.

What can you do at home?

-Practice skip counting patterns backswards especially 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s
