Grade 3 & 4

Term 4 -  Week 3

The busyness of the term has begun with loads of new learning and engaging experiences. Last week we walked down to the town hall to learn how to create stop motion films. Each of us created a character to suit out set backdrop. We then worked together in teams to record continual movement of characters which when rolled together created a mini motion film with added sound.

We celebrated Ss Michael and Johns saints day mass Friday morning and then had a visit from Ambulance paramedics Aimee and Gemma. It was fantastic climbing through the two ambulances, trying on paramedics gear and learning about DRABC with the squeaky hearts and mannequins. Aimee and Gemma did a fantastic job informing us about what paramedics do and even taught us a little first aide.

We have begun investigating "Our Space Neighbourhood". Last week we discovered shadows and how and why they occur. We went outside with a partner and traced their shadow with chalk. Our challenge then was to discover how these shadows occurred and we made our own miniature foil object to project their shadow. This week we will investigate the sun that creates shadows and describe it purpose and significance to the world.

Mission day is fast approaching and we are formulating teams and activities that will raise money for our local community. With lots of planning and preparation to do over the next two weeks we aim to work together to support those that need our help.
