Report
As we head into the final week of Term 2, there will be an end-of-term assembly on Friday, commencing at 1:45 pm, with the students finishing school at 2:30 pm.
We love seeing so many students enjoying the new playground after school—it's a wonderful space for fun and connection! Just a friendly reminder that school staff supervision finishes at 3:45 pm. Families are more than welcome to stay and play, but we kindly ask that parents or carers supervise their own children from that time onwards. Thanks for helping us keep everyone safe and happy!
On Thursday, our 5/6 Choir had the wonderful opportunity to visit Gowrie Kindergarten and perform for the students. They sang a number of different songs and nursery rhymes, bringing lots of smiles to the kinder children. Our students represented the school with pride, enthusiasm, and respect. A big thank you to Tanya D and Bronte for organising this special event!
Semester Reports will be released on Friday, with the Mathematics continuous report available tomorrow. A huge thank you to all our staff for the incredible effort they’ve put into student reporting over the past few weeks.
The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) has recently updated the Mathematics curriculum, introducing Mathematics Version 2.0, with all Victorian schools required to begin using this revised curriculum by 2025. At FNPS, we began implementing this new curriculum in 2024, with student reporting under the new curriculum starting from Semester 1, 2025.
Previously, your child’s Mathematics report included results across three strands: Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. Under Mathematics Version 2.0, teachers will now assess and report against a single, overall achievement standard; providing one consolidated score for Mathematics.
Because this is the first time reporting will occur under the revised curriculum, the Semester 1, 2025 report will show your child’s current level of achievement but will not include progress from the previous semester. From Semester 2 onwards, progress will once again be shown, now aligned with the new single standard.
These changes have been made to support more integrated and flexible teaching approaches, helping students make stronger connections within Mathematics and across other learning areas.
If you have any questions about your child’s Mathematics report, please don’t hesitate to contact their classroom teacher.
Do you – or someone you know – have a child starting school in 2026? We are now accepting enrolments, with school tours held fortnightly on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 am. Enrolments close on Friday 25 July 2025, so please ensure all forms are submitted by this date.
We also warmly invite prospective families to our Prep 2026 Information Evening on Wednesday, 23 July at 6:00pm. This session will provide an overview of our school, curriculum, community, and the 2026 enrolment process. Bookings for the Information Evening can be made here.
The Policy and Curriculum, as well as the Community Engagement sub-committees, are currently looking for parent or carers to join their teams. These sub-committees play an important role in shaping different aspects of school life and are a great way to get involved in the FNPS community. Joining a sub-committee is a meaningful way to contribute without the larger time commitment required for School Council—plus, it’s a great way to connect with other families and staff. If you’re interested, come and chat to Tania or myself, or send us an email.
Have a safe and enjoyable break.
Joe
