From the Principal

Our greatest strength: our people.

Over the term, we have continued to articulate our core strengths as

part of our new strategic plan, 2025.

This week we explore – People. Great Southern Grammar has extraordinary people.

  • We celebrate all staff as educators. We recognise that our greatest strength is our people; they give of their best, so our students can achieve their best.

  • We cultivate expertise and invest in professional growth, fostering development and leadership capability in a collaborative environment.

We know in education, meaningful relationships between students and teachers have the single biggest impact on student achievement. Without their passion, dedication and hard work, our learning community would not exist.

Recently, a Year Eight student said the following to me: "Teachers help me to be the best I can be. They give me voice, build my confidence and get me out of my comfort zone. They are my advocates."

Our Finance, Business and Administrative, Building and Grounds, Catering, Uniform, Community Relations and Boarding Teams work tirelessly to maintain the efficient and successful operations of the school. Without their expertise and commitment, the school would simply not operate and meet its strategic objectives.

Our Educational Assistants and Technicians provide essential learning, curriculum and pastoral support for students in and out of the classroom. Their understanding and care for individual students provide a safe learning environment that meets the needs of our learners at all stages of their development.

Our Music, Sports and Outdoor Education staff inspire and motivate our students to achieve their goals and take supported risks.

Recently, a Year Twelve student said the following to me: "My advice, take every opportunity offered by GSG – just say yes!"

We celebrate all staff as educators. We recognise that our greatest strength is our people; they give of their best, so our students can achieve their best.

As the term comes to a close, I encourage all of our community to acknowledge a staff member who has made an impactful contribution to our wonderful school.

Go well!

Mr Mathew Irving | Principal
