Inclusive Education Shines at Stanhope Gardens Boccia Tournament
Student report
Hello my wonderful people. I’m sure you missed me. I’m back again with my weird and wonderful experiences and today I'm talking about the boccia tournament on the 20th of June.
Boccia requires teamwork to run smoothly. It is a modified version of bocce, which is from Italy. It is mainly for people with severe disabilities.
It’s basically a sport where you roll your team’s balls as closely as you can to the jack. Whoever scores the most wins.
At around 9:00, me and my peers left towards the Blacktown Leisure Centre for the Bocci tournament.
We travelled inside a minibus style vehicle, which is what the taxis in our school use, which luckily I never use these taxis as I can barely fit in the aisle.
It wasn’t long until we reached the centre. When we got there, there were a couple schools there. We used this extra time waiting for the others by practicing our skills.
Whilst I cannot reveal our secrets to the public ( don’t want the competition catching on! ), we had to adjust our strategy as the floor was significantly slippery.
For most of the tournament, we were basically dominating the… field? Whatever we were playing it on, we were crushing it. Our only losses were from Crestwood and Melonba high schools. My first lunch, I had barely anything since I spent most of it at the canteen, which was a waste of my time.
At least for the 2nd lunch, I got a chicken burger, chips, and a Fanta.
We almost lost to Riverstone at the end, but managed to get the title of 5th place. Although that sounds lame and boring, we at least avoided the fate of getting 7th place like last year.
It was a great experience, and I’d be glad to return back to boccia one day.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Ms. Mitai and the PASS Class
The Inclusive Education Faculty would like to extend a sincere thank you to Ms. Mitai and her PASS class for organising such a fantastic series of activities for our students. The energy, care, and creativity that went into planning and running each session did not go unnoticed.
The PASS students demonstrated exceptional leadership, organisation, and above all, patience—qualities that made the experience both enjoyable and meaningful for everyone involved. Their ability to create an inclusive, encouraging environment speaks volumes about their character and teamwork.
We also want to celebrate some amazing individual achievements.
