Duke of Edinburgh: Silver Award

Jenna’s remarkable achievement reflects her dedication, resilience, and compassionate spirit. Over the course of her journey, she committed to running four times a week, surpassing her personal goals of 4K and 14K distances, and exploring new training techniques. At the same time, she deepened her spiritual life through weekly Bible readings, showing a beautiful balance of physical, mental, and spiritual growth.

Beyond her personal milestones, Jenna made a meaningful difference in her community through her involvement in kids’ church—leading crafts, mentoring young minds, and helping children grow in their faith. Her impact has extended well beyond the award itself, and we’re so proud to celebrate her hard work and well-deserved success.

Purple Pigeons rock their way to 3rd Place at Battle of the Bands

Kellyville High’s rising rockstars, Purple Pigeons, soared to success —securing third place at the Battle of the Bands competition, hosted at Castle Hill High School on Wednesday 2nd July.

Facing off against a fierce line-up of talented school bands, Purple Pigeons set the stage ablaze with a trio of electrifying performances. Kicking things off with their original track Everthought, the band wowed the crowd with their unique sound and lyrical depth. They kept the energy sky-high with powerful covers of Welcome to the Black Parade and Shut Up and Dance, showing both musical range and stage presence.

A big thank you to the dedicated KHS teachers, past and present, who continue to support the band. Ms. Zhang, Ms. Burr and Mr. Huang.

Congratulations to Alex W., Joel R., Luca K. and Terrance W.

Celebrating NAIDOC Week: Indigenous Games and Weaving

As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, we were proud to host cultural activities that fostered connection and community within our school. This year’s NAIDOC theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy”, inspired us to honour and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, achievements, and traditions through a fun and meaningful event.

Our celebration began with a student gathering—offering a quiet moment to connect, reflect, and yarn in a shared space. It was a time to strengthen relationships and honour the ongoing contributions of First Nations peoples within our school.

Students engaged in a series of traditional Indigenous games, including Yangamini, Apawerte, Kolap, and Puth. They learned not only the physical skills involved but also the rich cultural stories behind each game. These activities encouraged teamwork, respect, and a deeper appreciation for First Nations knowledge systems.

We also hosted a weaving workshop, where students explored the cultural significance of weaving in many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. They had the opportunity to create their own small pieces using natural fibres and yarn, gaining a deeper appreciation for the knowledge and patience this artform demands.

We are proud of the respect, curiosity, and connection shown by all who took part, and we thank everyone who joined us in this celebration.
