Mid-Year Music Showcase

On Wednesday 18th June, students in the Music Program delivered an outstanding Mid-Year Concert Spectacular that demonstrated the diverse skills of all Music students. There were many first time performers, together with seasoned and experienced Music students, participating in the various bands and groups including Junior and Senior Concert Bands, Vocal Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, Jazz Improvisation Group and VCE Group, all facilitated by the expertise of the Music staff and Music Director, Ms Paula Grinbergs. The PAC was packed to the rafters, with the artists receiving a riveting applause after every piece! Well done to all Music staff, students and parents; it was a fabulous night of live music and celebration! A big thank you to those staff who came to help out and support the students and Music staff and enjoy the music performances.

Mr Martin’s Year 7 Music Classes

In Term 2, Year 7 Music students are creating music compositions using the Music Department’s Apple Mac Computer Workstations in E6. These newly acquired resources provide the students with greater inclusion and engagement in Music studies, helping cater to their diverse learning needs and interests at Lilydale Heights. Students learn a variety of music production skills in Music class, including composing, editing, ICT music specific language, using special effects, formatting files etc via the Digital Audio Workstations (DAWS).  Students are currently enjoying creating rock and pop band music compositions on the GarageBand Program, where they can work independently and/or in small collaborative groups developing multiple instrument loops. The new computers also feature many useful aural training programs and apps for our senior Music students who are currently in the Year 9 & 10 electives and VCE Music class.
