Year 9/10 Division Netball

On the 10th of June, we had our year 9/10 boys A and B team play Netball at Narrandjeri stadium. Both teams worked hard throughout the day, with the B team playing some great Netball and coming out with some close call games. The A team played a fast game of Netball, showing some great talent in the game, which evidently showed by winning their pool, making it through to the final. It was a tough fight in the final for the boys, they unfortunately weren’t able to come through with a win, but the boys played some impressive Netball and worked hard all the way to the end. Well done!

The boys B team had a difficult run throughout the day; they worked hard through every match and showed great teamwork! The A team successfully made it through to the final after showing some great skills and determination through every match. They unfortunately weren’t able to come out with the win, but they worked hard as a team and showed some great energy that kept the score close all the way to the end. The girls B team showed fantastic teamwork throughout the day, showing great skill and communication each match. The girls A team dominated their pool with no points conceded, winning each game by a large margin, which took them through to the final. Girls came away with another large margin win in the final!

Well done to all the teams!

Luckily our girls B team were able to be bumped up as Northcote High Schools 2nd A team! We had a rough start and lost our first game, but even though we lost we never gave up! We kept on trying and won our second game. We played as hard as we could for our last game, but lost. Even though we lost two of our games, we were able to get the win on one of them. It was a great day of lots of fun, and everyone enjoyed playing.

We played Thornbury in the final, and although we lost to penalties in the end, they worked very well as a team and showed passion and confidence with every match. The girls should be incredibly proud of themselves, playing some amazing soccer and working effectively as a team. Yr 7 Boys / Mixed AFL

The year 7 Northcote High AFL team had a great performance in the recent district footy competition, playing three games against Preston, Lalor North and Thornbury. The team worked hard all day in tricky conditions, showing strong teamwork, determination, and a great positive attitude. They came away with two big wins against Lalor North and a strong Thornbury team, where their talk, Pressure, and persistence stood out. Even in their loss against an extremely well-drilled Preston side, the players kept their heads up and continued to give their all until the final siren. Throughout all three games the team showed great improvement, supported one another on and off the field and demonstrated a real passion for the game. Their resilience and sportsmanship were evident in every quarter they played. It was a great day of footy that highlighted not just their growing skills but also their commitment to playing as one united team.

Yr 7 Badminton

After joining the school badminton group, I got many great experiences that helped me grow both personally and socially. At first, I was quite nervous because I didn’t know many people except the people from our school, but over time, I got to meet now people who shared the same interest in the sport. Being part of a this gave me a sense of purpose and helped me improve my skills through teamwork, practice, and friendly competition. I honestly only cared about was learning, supporting each other, and enjoying the game together. Overall, the experience was something everyone should at least try once.

As Term 2 sport comes to a close, with only 2 sports left we have Yr 7 Netball and Yr 7 Soccer.  The Sport Department would like to thank everyone involved in the Interschool Sport Program, from our students competing, to our fantastic students coaches and our wonderful staff who help with coaching, team selection and going out with teams on Competition days.  We could not run such a great program without everyone involved.  Have a wonderful break and we look forward to Term 3 Sport.
